interGLASSmetal/FENESTRATION World 2003
Many of you visited us at interGLASSmetal/FENESTRATION World
2003 in Columbus, Ohio, November 4-6, 2003, and we appreciate your
time
and interest. The show was a success for us, with attendance by key
people; we noted true buying interest in spite of the reduced attendance.
We
introduced the new laminated glass assembly systems, along with numerous
additions to MTI’s InLine window assembly systems we’ve
been developing over the last nine years. The visitors were from
all over North America, split equally between the window manufacturers
and flat and specialty glass shops.
Continued success with our AcuGlass CNC glass cutting system and
the I.G. and window and door assembly products resulted in a number
of orders being placed on the spot. The lower-cost liquid laminated
program in cooperation with UCB's Uvekol products resulted in a great
number of planned implementations in 2004.Thank you very much for
the faith and trust you have placed in MTI.
Many of you commented on the proliferation of trade shows, and the
expenses incurred to send all of your key employees. We agree. The
exhibitors fund and pay for these shows, and attempt to introduce
new products and technologies to market. That's not possible with
multiple shows annually. Therefore, future involvement by many of
our fellow vendors will be have to be eliminated or reduced.
Reinventing the Wheel. In the current
economic climate, a natural tendency is more do-it-yourself as a means
of saving money for several of our less sophisticated products. The
theory is that you save any time you aren't paying. But, is that necessarily
true? Many who have been down the DIY road recognize the hidden expense
of "reinventing the wheel" in the form of higher development,
maintenance, and support costs, and labor that is not free.. ... [more]

MTI's Ken Nekola Pens Article on In-line Assembly: MTI National Sales Manager
Ken Nekola wrote an article recently, discussing in-line assembly of large
units such as patio doors, picture windows, and mulled assemblies. Watch for

From the President...
For some
time, many in our trade have experienced a general downturn in business. Fortunately,
the window, door, and flat glass people have escaped significant reductions in
business volumes because of continued strength in new housing starts and remodeling
growth.
At a recent Remodeler's Show, experts delivered a very encouraging forecast for
the remodeling market, estimated to become $ 234 billion. Yes that's correct,
billion. These numbers speak volumes about consumer's willingness to invest,
and have been strengthened consistently with an annualized 6.6%
increase during the last four quarters. Fueled by continuing low interest rates,
existing home sales rose 3.6% in past months. That promises
very good times for those of us directly related to providing products and services
in this segment.
Our products have assisted in increasing the efficiencies of manufacturing, along
with the introduction of turnkey final assembly and glass laminated production
systems. This newest development, our low cost lami-glass production system enables
window manufactures to take control of their own laminated glass production without
a large initial investment, eliminating unstable lead times and reducing costs
at the same time.
MTI builds equipment that doesn’t just simply “get the job done.” MTI
prides itself on reliable, efficient designs that save customers time, labor,
injury, and money. We invite you to visit us and learn how your window, door,
glass, or related manufacturing operation can benefit from MTI.
